As the fintech landscape grows more competitive than ever, companies need to push boundaries, crafting seamless, innovative experiences that truly set them apart. Swile is a French platform redefining employee experience management by transforming how employee benefits and expenses are paid out and used, improving employee experience for millions. With rapid growth across Europe and now expanding into Brazil, Swile turned to Enfuce to co-create a scalable, next-generation card solution capable of supporting local benefit structures while delivering a unified global experience.

Together, Enfuce and Swile have built a new way to issue and manage benefit-linked payments, combining multiple benefit types on a single physical card using a unique multi-PAN setup, with each benefit linked to its own balance and rules, solving regulatory and spend-routing complexity.

Finding the right strategy to improve employee experiences through card solutions.

Swile provides physical cards to employees across Western Europe and Brazil, allowing them to spend their benefits with ease. With over 5 million cardholders and more than 100,000 corporate customers, Swile aims to provide an employee benefits solution for everyday work life, creating a seamless experience for everyone.

To support their vision, Swile needed more than just a card issuer, they were looking for a strategic partner, one with reliable and agile infrastructure, the flexibility to bring multiple benefits together on a single card, and the drive to co-create a strategy that puts employee experience first. They found that in Enfuce: a future-focused, digital-first processor ready to innovate, collaborate, and think outside of the box.

The challenge: How to combine benefits and expenses into a single card for a better employee experience?

Swile wanted to go further than simplifying employee benefits, they wanted to revolutionise the entire employee experience and combine multiple employee benefits and travel expenses into one single physical card.

Employees often complain about the administrative work that goes into managing multiple benefits and expense schemes across various cards and providers, with differing requirements.

Wanting to make the employee experience better for their customers, Swile turned to Enfuce with the task of combining everything into one single card. But that ambition was difficult to achieve as each benefit carried its own rules, regulations and VAT treatment. As a result, traditional processors lacked the architecture to support multiple PANs, scheme-specific rules, and dynamic benefit routing, making innovation at this scale unfeasible without significant platform rework.

But those weren’t the only major obstacles, Swile also faced the significant task of re-carding millions of users already onboarded—making scalability and operational excellence critical in their choice of partner.

The challenge was finding a card processor that could meet their complex technical requirements and match their desire for innovation and focus on employee experience management.

The solution: Creating one employee card for all benefits.

Due to Enfuce’s deep payments expertise, agility, and genuine desire to innovate, the partnership clicked early on, thanks to aligned mindsets, technical ambition, and a shared drive to build something unprecedented.

For Enfuce, the opportunity to work with Swile on something bold and transformative in the card issuing and card processing space, and drive better employee experiences, was both exciting and aligned with its vision for innovation.

“I think this goes to the core of why Enfuce was founded”, said Denise Johansson, co-founder and co-CEO of Enfuce. “We founded Enfuce to challenge ourselves, to challenge the industry, and to show that tech is never prohibiting you from innovation. Tech is always there to solve. Having a partner who really knows the business specific details and then us being the party to translate that into how tech can be part of solving it is part of the solution.”

Through ongoing collaboration with Swile, Enfuce brought a range of tailored technical solutions to the table, driven by a deep understanding of the vision behind the product. Enfuce asked the right questions: What aligns with Swile’s goals as a card issuer? What will truly work in practice, and what won’t? This open, and no-nonsense dialogue, led to the development of a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) ready to be tested and validated in the real world.

“I think to have been able to keep a very direct line between the two of us, enabled us to solve a number of issues that could have gone south. To keep the conversation authentic and to be able to actually talk to the founder of the company, on the other side, is just great.”

– Quentin Vigneau, Product Director, Swile

Of course, innovation rarely comes without hurdles, and both teams acknowledged the challenges of bringing  something truly different to life. Navigating a fresh partnership required flexibility, open communication, and a shared willingness to learn and adapt.

The close collaboration between Enfuce and Swile resulted in a powerful, scalable solution, one that not only meets today’s needs but sets a new benchmark for the future of employee benefits and card issuing.

The result: 250,000 cards issued in one month.

Swile and Enfuce delivered exceptional results, issuing 250,000 cards in January alone, a testament to the platform’s scalability and resilience. This success not only transformed employee experiences across Western Europe but also laid the foundation for Swile’s expansion into Brazil. As one of the world’s largest employee benefits markets, Brazil marks a strategic milestone where Swile is now replicating the proven French model, further validating Enfuce’s ability to support complex, global rollouts. This partnership also represents a key step in Enfuce’s own expansion beyond the Nordics into broader European and international markets.

“I remember when we realised that this could really be a way for us to prove ourselves in the industry. A way to say that we like saying yes to challenges, and of course, I remember when we realised the solution. To see the design actually work for Swile, taking that to production and seeing the volume grow, was a real highlight. As a founder of Enfuce, I must also say that a key highlight, throughout the years, is all the advocacy that we’ve received from Swile.”
